The Historic Cotton Exchange Cafe and Wine Bar in downtown Temple is open for lunch and happy hour, and offers a unique option for special events, lunch, happy hour, or dinner.
Owner/host Stephanie Douglass brings a new vision to downtown Temple – a vision that combines dining with fine food and wine in a relaxing atmostphere, while being entertained by live music -- surrounded by fine artwork by local artists. She has more than 15 years’ experience in food service management. She is an active member of the Temple Chamber of Commerce and an enthusiastic supporter of business vitality for downtown Temple. As a former partner in the advertising venture, N2 Magazine, she has worked with many Temple businesses and become deeply committed to the community.
The Historic Cotton Exchange Building, located at 116 South First Street in downtown Temple, was built in 1883, the same year the City was chartered. In the many years since, it has twice served as a saloon as well as a gambling hall, bordello (rumored) and a butcher shop, among others.
The Cotton Exchange is open Tuesday through Friday with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Happy Hour is from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Dinner is served 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday through Friday.
The historic building is available by reservations to private parties and events by reservation at hourly rates. It is perfect for rehearsal dinners, company meetings, and other special events with seating for 80 persons. Servicing and catering for these events is available.
The lunch menu consists of a wide selection of appetizers, soups, salads, pastas and paninis. Dinner specials change daily.
