The Historic Cotton Exchange Café & Wine Bar is a place where fond memories are formed and important milestones are shared.
Enjoy a warm ambiance with interesting conversations, while making lasting friendships.
The building was used as a saloon, gambling hall and bordello from 1883 until 1913, then became the home of the CW Wilson Meat Market
- In 1921 it transformed into Lone Star Tailors (downstairs), while a hamburger stand and bowling alley occupied the second floor
- From 1929-1935 it housed the C.C. Curle Furniture Company
- In 1935, it returned to its alcoholic ways becoming The Brown Beer Parlor
- Since then numerous unrecorded businesses have come and gone and then sat empty for many years until recently Jill Hopper, Karen Steeves, Andrew Allen & Kenny Soliz purchased the building and spent the next two years renovating the historic structure. Today it houses the Historic Cotton Exchange Cafe & Wine Bar, Event Center, and Gallery downstairs, while the upstairs has been converted into a 2,400 s.f. loft
- The building has been investigated by the Central Texas Paranormal Society for hauntings
- The Historic Cotton Exchange never had any association with cotton exchange in Temple
